📘 Echozia from Propacast (social phenomenon)
Definition:
A collective mental condition in which individuals, repeatedly exposed to propacast content (sensationalist broadcasts filled with ideology and emotional manipulation), absorb and repeat prepackaged opinions, actively discussing them as if they were their own—often in private settings (family dinners, bars, social media)—while losing critical thinking and drifting away from their true goals.
Side effects may include shouting, ignoring the quality/interests of the source of information, and unsolicited monologues about geopolitics.
Etymology:
From Greek ēkhō (ἠχώ, "echo") + clinical suffix -zìa (as in "schizophrenia") + Propacast (a blend of propaganda and broadcast).
Examples:
- “At Easter lunch, the whole family was deep in an echozia from propacast: shouting about TikTok, wars, and pensions without understanding a thing.”
- “I turned off the TV to avoid relapsing into echozia from propacast. My own thoughts are enough.”
